Imagine that the internet, mobile phones and social media existed when World War II began

1939live is a website and a series of 5 short films that allow you to experience the events around the build-up to WWII and the first days of the war as if they were happening right now.
The project is entirely created from primary sources - letters, memoirs, diaries and other documents written by historical figures of the time. It is a completely new way to discover and understand history, using direct dialogue with historical voices who describe real events in real time free from the bias of historical interpretation. On the 80th anniversary, 1939live lets you experience those momentous events alongside the people who led the war and those who were its victims.
